I read it on a treadmill early into high school. We have the most beautiful, out of print green and gold copy that I am absolutely in love with. It is probably my favorite story. I had never watched a single one of the numerous film adaptations for fear it would ruin my imagination of the characters and the story. That was of course until I saw the trailer for Jane Eyre, the 2011 edition. Yikes! I knew right away that this would be the one. Focus Features hated me enough to release the film only to a limited number of theaters (really? Fort Smith Malco didn't get included???), but I counted down the days until it finally came out on video. After a desperate search across town for an available DVD rental facility, we downloaded it from iTunes, broke out the tea and cakes and hooked up the computer to the TV.

And it was a good movie.

Ok, I’ll actually review a little. Michael Fassbender embodied Mr. Rochester STUNNINGLY. It transfixed me quite. Alice from Wonderland Mia Wasikowska made a pretty cool Jane too. If you know the story you would no there is no way of making it exactly kid friendly, but it is clean--no cussin’. There is kissin’ and a Pride and Prejudicey nude painting to look at though. The soundtrack was pretty lovely, also Pride and Prejudicey but less memorable. The worst of the movie was the violence I suppose...there are a couple of smacks and fist scuffles, girls get struck at a bad school, and there's one scene with a bit of blood involved. But hey, it's not the Gladiator. This is definitely one that I'm gonna own in the near future. I shall leave you with a lovely preview that will make you want to watch it too :)

J-dude in General

Our usual LOTR fan set is happy to announce the addition of this funny fella!!!!! J-dude watched the TWO TOWERS with us last night, and now he's seen them all. He watched them in the inconvenient and confusing order of 3rd, 1st, then 2nd, and we decided to watch TT when he posed the question, "How do Frodo and Sam end up meeting Gollum?" Felt sorry for him - having Gollum all of a suddenly there and all. At the first sight of Theoden, it was, "Oh yeah, he dies!" Arg. Not fair that he should know that. He's been asking a lot of questions, and he thinks the 3rd is the 1st, and that Shelob was dead when they started out, and yadayadaya of general confuzation. Whose fault was this whole wrong order thing? Now we're gonna watch them CORRECTLY!!!This was his favorite part of TWO TOWERS:

Specifically when Gimli is stuck. Emypie, watch it if you wanna but I wouldn't recommend it!

Fixed Lane's old MP3 up for J-dude today with the LOTR songs he wanted. We listened to them together on my iPod and he picked them out. He gets so excited about the soundtracks!!!!! It's so awesome cuz I used to be the only one that liked them!!! He's been grinning ear to ear and singing the vocalization for "A Knife in the Dark" - his favorite! It was so much fun, we did the Narnia and Star Wars soundtracks too. He loves the battle songs and the Isengard theme!!! So cool. He's happy to have seen all the LOTR and now to have his own MP3 player! Funfunfun!

Provident Film and Sherwood Pictures (or, the FACING THE GIANTS people) are working up another movie and the trailer is OUT!!!!!!!!! The movie is supposed to be released August 2008 so tell me what you think!!!! More on J-dude's birthday later!

So.... why am I posting???? I dunno.... hmmm letsee. Oooo! The dog got sick all over the house, but you probably didn't want to know that:z Then Mayfee broke a bowl:z I got BOOKS from the library!!!!!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got MANNING and THE LAST SIN EATER yesterday. Finished MANNING today and shall start LAST SIN EATER later tonight. Bekah told me to and she and EmNm both said that that was a jolly good movie. Been sick. Still a bit, but I get around. But not as far as the Tobymac/Jeremy Camp/Matthew West concert last night:( Horrid and sad!!!!:( Oh, well. It was Sir Luke's birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday Sir Luke!!!!!!!!!!!!! And thank you (and Nan too apparently) for bringing Emy THE HOBBIT!!!! I tried to tape Super Bowl XLI for Toria today. Watched the whole thing and for some perverse reason it didn't tape!!!!! The rage!!!! I'll try sometime else. I almost know every play, I've watched that game so many times!!!!!! We maybe might do something fun tomorrow like a hike or something! I found a cool hebrew word in Isaiah! It's Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. Took me a bit to actually say it out loud. It means: "Quick to the plunder, Swift to the spoil!!!!!!!" Whoa!!!! Neat I says!!!!! I think I'll use that sometime! I used an my last iTunes card on a PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN soundtrack. It's DEAD MAN'S CHEST. The organ music isn't as.... full as I expected. When Davy Jones plays the music box song in the movie it sounds SOOO resounding and neat and amazing. Not AS much on the cd, but it is good and I like it. Not EVERYBODY can put a soundtrack together like Howard Shore ya know!

Like I mentioned, Emy is reading the hobbit!!!!!! That makes me happy, but she knows not what Gollum/Smeagol sounds like. So, here it is:

Dad's back!!!!!!!!!!! He came in sleepwalking yesterday, then slept a little nap (it was more like a... hibernation) then came out and watched the superbowl again! I still got tense even though I knew the score! Now he's feeling pretty good! Grandma and I went to Emo's and ate some... I don't quite know what, but it was good! Then we found BLOCKBUSTER and got THE VILLAGE and THE BRIDGE TO TERIBITHIA or something like that for Dad. We kids and Grandma watched the Village last night. That is a better movie every time I watch it!!! Helped Grandpa with his NEW YORK TIMES crossword puzzle yesterday too. Whenever he finds an impossible one, he sends me to the internet. Heehee! Found this vid of Eli and Peyton after the Superbowl on an NFL site. You have to turn it up to hear anything they're saying, besides the fact that they're speaking in football/brother code, but it's really sweet. Thought Toria'd like it!

Peyton's a good brother:) And I got to say my line! When the Pats were in the locker room I said: "THE PATS ARE NOT PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" It was glorious!!!!!!!!!! And more football on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!! The Pro Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday Cool Stuff!

Now commences the post about my birthday.

I woke up and we had some bread and gravy. Yum! Then Dad let me open an envelope. It was a card that had Will Turner and Jack Sparrow on it. When you open it up, it plays the Pirates of the Caribbean theme! Heehee! Inside it said, "Wanna go to a wedding for some fun? Maybe in May?" HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Mom and Dad!!!!!!!!!! I was SOOOOOOO wanting to go to Sir Luke and Lady Lana's wedding!!!!!!! Arkansas, here we come!!!!!!!!!

Then Lucy gave me a neato pink desk chair for my new computerdesky thingy! Sticks and I put it together. There was also this box from Grandma H that I wasn't supposed to open until my birthday. It was a REALLY pretty quilt she made!!!!!!!!!!!! It's purple and white and a little bit of green. It looks awesome on my bed!!!!!!

We went to church and got back. Dad and I went out to eat lunch at Fuddruckers. I'd never been, and it was pretty good!!!!!! Went home, hung out, went to Home Depot for something and Emo and Mangnay came and gave me cool money!!!!!!!!!!! Neat!!!!!!!!! We had mexican for dinner, and Mom and Dad and Me and Lane watched Le Miserables with Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush. Not the best movie really, but rarely is there seen better acting!!!!!!!!! Awesome fun day!!!!!!!!!! Then the next day I woke up and I was still 16! I mean, how cool is that!!!!!!!!!!

Next day Mom and I went to the movies to see ENCHANTED. Goodgoodfunnyfunny! See it! Cute scene down there where I put videos. Today I took Sticks to National Treasure for Christmas. That is a GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD movie!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

So the moral of the story is, I am STILL 16, there ARE good movies out there, and Arkansas SHALL taste my there-ness soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
